This Easter, explore the beauty of the natural world through creative arts and immersive experiences. Inspired by our Collecting Coventry exhibition, which features natural sciences from the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum collections, we’ll spend two weeks crafting, learning new skills, and celebrating the vibrant blooms of spring.

 Discover the fascinating animals on display in the exhibition, including the playful fox, curious badger, and colourful blue tit. You will also encounter unexpected creatures like the orange tip butterfly, mongoose and beetles —each sparking your creativity as you bring them to life through your crafts.

 Celebrate the beauty of nature in every form while creating something special with your family. This hands-on experience is perfect for all ages and offers the chance to learn, make, and connect with the season’s wonders!

Saturday 12, Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 April: Striking Spring Bonnets

Get ready to craft the ultimate Easter bonnet! Join us for a fun, hands-on activity where we will use pipe cleaners, tissue paper, and your favourite decorations to create a dazzling masterpiece. Whether you are imagining a space-themed bonnet, a dino-inspired creation, or a fairy garden bursting with flowers, the possibilities are endless—let your creativity shine!

Thursday 17, Friday 18 & Saturday 19 April: Wonderful Wooden Eggs

Spring has filled Coventry with blooming trees and chirping birds building nests! Take inspiration from nature around you and decorate wooden eggs with playful patterns using colourful felt pens and fun embellishments like glitter, sequins, wool, and more.

Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 April: Splendid Stone Art

Get creative with stone art! Design illustrations on white stones using a colourful array of pens. The design choice is yours; it could be nature-inspired, feature your favourite person or creature, or carry a meaningful message. Experiment with background colours and add embellishments to enhance your design. Take your art home to display on your front doorstep or in a community garden.

Thursday 24, Friday 25 & Saturday 26 April:  Tie-Dye Totes

Design a tie-dye tote bag using watered-down fabric paints and elastic bands to create a joyful explosion of colour. This activity will get a little messy—we will provide gloves and aprons. Once rinsed, you will need to dry your creation at home, and then you can show off your beautiful, one-of-a-kind tote!
