Independents’ Day UK is a campaign that exists to support and promote independent retail businesses across the UK all year round, but with an annual focus around July 4th: this year across a full weekend, on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2rd July.
Independents account for something in the order of 65% of the approximately 290,000 retail outlets in the UK and are at the heart of local communities throughout the country and Coventry is no different.

Chameleon Menswear

Charles Ager is proud to be an independent footwear retailer. Generations of the Ager family have run the business – the current manager is Chris Hart whose Great Great Grandfather started the business in 1840.
Charles Ager has always and will continue to be about great customer service. Several generations of local consumers have used the Children’s fitting service when they were children and now bring their own children to the store – a real testament to the quality of customer service we strive to maintain.

Coventry’s first and only Cat Lounge Café is a fantastic place to visit, a true one of a kind experience in the City by owner Paul Giltenan.

HMV Empire
Introduced by owner Phil Rooney, the HMV Empire is a multi-use venue hosting National & International live music acts, DJs & club events from Ed Sheeran to Jimmy Carr, Tom Grennan to YungBlud and everything in between.
As one of Coventry’s biggest music venues, with three bars and the flexibility to accommodate events from 50-1200 capacity across our various stages and balcony that overlooks the city centre, it is a fantastic venue for all events and performances.
Kawaha Cafe
Kahawa Café LTD is an independent coffee house that was established in 2012. Located in the heart of Coventry on New Union Street, this family run business provides a warm and welcoming environment for everyone and thrives on providing excellent quality and faultless service.
In its short life Kahawa Cafes amazing blend of coffee and its delightful atmosphere has accomplished much in terms of recognition, the business was included in Brian’s coffee blog and took part in Midlands Business Excellence awards as a runner up, beating some of the industry’s biggest names, and it was featured in Coventry Telegraph as the best new business runner up 2013.
